Charm City Junction:
From dance inducing Old Time rhythms and foot stomping Irish melodies to hard-driving Bluegrass, Baltimore-based acoustic roots quartet Charm City Junction creates a fresh soundscape that keeps listeners on the edge of their seats wondering where they'll go next. Featuring fiddle, clawhammer banjo, button accordion and upright bass, this quartet isn’t afraid to take roots music to new places — but always with an eye on tradition.
Formed in 2014, Charm City Junction has taken the acoustic music scene by storm performing around the country gaining high praise along the way for their high-energy, captivating and dynamic performances. Patrick McAvinue, 2017 IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year, takes charge with his virtuosic, powerful and musical approach to the fiddle. Clawhammer banjo wizard Brad Kolodner adds his playful, driving, melodic and groovy Old-Time touch. Sean McComiskey, soars through the tunes and fills the gaps with his soulful button accordion playing. The versatile bassist Alex Lacquement drives the train, locking everything together with his commanding and tasteful choices. Drawing from separate musical backgrounds, the four members have found a common ground on which to develop their unique approach. Since releasing their highly anticipated debut album Charm City Junction on Patuxent Music in the fall of 2015, they have performed prestigious festivals including Grey Fox, Old Songs, Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Delaware Valley Bluegrass Festival and an appearance at the Kennedy Center. They released their second full-length album, Duckpin, in the summer of 2018. The record debuted at #6 on the Billboard Bluegrass charts.

About Wicked Sycamore:
Wicked Sycamore is an all-female trio hailing from the Baltimore/DC area, consisting of Juliette Bell on guitar, Lainie Gray on mandolin, and Madeline Waters on cello. Their sound can be described as contemporary folk with a mischievous edge that is grounded in traditional roots music but branches out into Americana, bluegrass, funk, and jazz. They write original music ranging from fun and light-hearted sing-alongs to deep, introspective tunes for the ages. Their music combines intricate vocal harmonies with thoughtful arrangement, mood shifts, and story-telling. They are proud to add their voices as both female musicians and songwriters to the modern music landscape.
Wicked Sycamore won the Charm City Bluegrass band competition in 2019 and they were awarded two WAMMIES in 2021 for Best Bluegrass Group/Artist and Best Bluegrass Album (In More Ways Than One) in the DMV-area. Wicked Sycamore has played at festivals such as DelFest, Greyfox Bluegrass Festival, Charm City Bluegrass Festival, Sultana Downrigging Festival, and Annapolis Baygrass Festival, as well as onstage at venues like The Hamilton, The 8X10, Union Stage, The Avalon Theatre, and the Hylton Performing Arts Center at George Mason University.
Magnolia Street String Band:
Magnolia Street String Band started in 2013 as an informal project between Matthew Backes and Sheila Shukla and friends in Highland Park, NJ. Paul Prestopino, Bobby Baxmeyer, Ron Greenstein, Gary Olyear and Nick Conte later joined the group, bringing rock solid, driving rhythm, sweet harmonies and hot pickin’.
Since 2014 the band has played a steady stream of shows to ever larger and more appreciative audiences. They have played festival stages, state fairs, weddings, parties, hootenannies, honky tonks, and more refined events as well. Their music is grounded in traditional bluegrass with elements of cosmic Americana, country, and old-time as well as original compositions to round out the group’s repertoire. The band’s sound features powerful three-part harmonies and compelling instrumentals with virtuosic fiddle and banjo, driving mandolin, guitar and bass. Overall, their take on bluegrass feels old but relevant, traditional but personal, and well crafted but soulful and direct. Their first full-length album, Wrong Side of the Rain, was released in June, 2019.
Look out for “By the Light of the Moon”, a bluegrass album for children. The album was written by Sheila Shukla and family and arranged, produced and performed by Magnolia Street String Band and Bob Harris.
